Pray to Banish Fear

“Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you.”—1 Peter 5:7 (KJV)

It has been said that the opposite of love is not hate, it is fear. When you are afraid, turn to the Source of love. Turn to God in prayer. When the ground under you won’t stand still, take His hand to steady yourself. God’s perfect love will cast out your fear.

Lord, help me when I’m afraid.

Nurture Yourself

Do you make time to nurture yourself? If you neglect your own needs, the effects ripple down to all other aspects of your life. Every day spend at least ten minutes treating yourself, whether it be drinking a cup of tea, relaxing in a bath, or simply staying in bed just a few minutes longer each morning looking forward to the blessings that will unfold in the day ahead.

Dear Lord, today I will schedule time for me and You.

Some mornings seem fraught with problems from burning breakfast, spilling coffee, to bigger nuisances like the car not starting. When you find yourself beginning a bad day, stop and pray. Ask for His guidance and blessing. Turn to this verse and believe.

Lord, I’m having a bad day. Please hit restart on my stress and patience and revise my day according to Your will.

We live in a world packed with God’s miracles. Not just dramatic once-in-a-lifetime experiences, but small yet profoundly meaningful moments of God’s grace bless our lives. John wrote that the Bible is only a small portion of the many things Jesus did. When we open our hearts and minds to His miracles, we witness amazing glimpses of His glory.

Lord, because of You nothing is impossible. Because of You I believe in miracles.

The “Lions” in Your Life

So the king gave the order, and they brought Daniel and threw him into the lions’ den. The king said to Daniel, “May your God, whom you serve continually, rescue you!”—Daniel 6:16 (NIV)

In the above verse, Daniel courageously spent the night in the dark den with the lions and when the king came to him the next morning and asked if God had delivered him, Daniel answered, “My God hath sent His angel and hath shut the lions’ mouths that they have not hurt me.” When you are afraid think of Daniel and have faith that God will send His angel to control the “lions” in your life.

Heavenly Father, I have nothing to fear with You on my side.

If you are having trouble forgiving someone, ask God today for the resources to soften your heart. Like a heavy stone lifted from around your neck, you will be free of a great weight and you will be able to go forward unburdened by self-consuming resentment.

Remind me, Father, how self-defeating it is to hold grudges.

Sometimes God’s guidance is clouded by your own doubts and the criticism of others. It’s not always easy to listen to His whispers and have faith in the outcome. If you are in a place where you feel divided by uncertainty, ask God for strength and clarity to follow His will.

Heavenly Father, I’m sorry for worrying and having doubts. Help me follow Your direction. Help me to stay on course.
