A Never-Ending Season

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.—ECCLESIASTES 3:1 KJV

Our lives go through many seasons relative to our age and activities. But when it comes to caring for others, the season seems constant—like summer in the tropics.

But even a tropical summer has its fluctuations of rainfall and storminess. And so our caring season changes. We go from serving our parents to caring for our spouse. From there, if the Lord wills, we’ll care for babies and growing families and, possibly, aging parents and an aging mate.

Sometimes the constant demand for our help may lead us to become bitter. We hear the world beckoning us to forsake our roles as servants to become the leaders, the planners, the stars. We look at others whose lives appear easy, and think, If I didn’t have to serve others all the time, I could make something of my life.

Please, don’t despair!

This never-ending season of caring is your life. It’s the life that God created you for. And He will make something of it, as you faithfully and carefully honor Him.

Father, sometimes I wish I didn’t have to take care of yet another person. But I know this is where the work of God is done: person to person, life to life. Thank You for entrusting me with such a holy mission.
