Figure It Out

Get wisdom—it’s worth more than money; choose insight over income every time.—PROVERBS 16:16 MSG

Caregivers often have to make decisions for those in their care. From finances to groceries, someone needs to assess a situation and make a move. If you’re entrusted with the care of another, how do you know you’re making the right decision? It can be scary.

The book of Proverbs is filled with wisdom. One verse states, “For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding” (Proverbs 2:6 KJV). “Out of his mouth.” How would we get the words that come out of His mouth?

We start the decision-making process by talking to God in prayer. Simple words stating your needs, your questions. Then be still, listen, and wait. He often speaks in a whisper. He might send a mentor or another person to help you discern what you need to do. It may be that you sense the stirring of your heart in the direction it should go.

To become wise, we must seek God’s wisdom and live according to His Word. St. Augustine said, “Love Holy Scriptures, and Wisdom will love thee; love her and she will keep thee.”

Dear Father, I need wisdom this day. I have questions and situations to sort out. Please fill my heart with Your wisdom. Guide me on the path I should walk.
