Prayer Requests

My intercessor is my friend as my eyes pour out tears to God.—JOB 16:20 NIV

What do you need?” a friend asks.

“Just pray” is our caregiver response.

An intercessor may take that question further: “What specific requests do you have?”

Willing intercessors support us and lift up our caregiving needs, frustrations, even joys to the Lord. They walk with us, praying for us when we’re too exhausted to cry out for help. Of course, God hears our own prayers—but there are times we can’t find the words or energy to talk with Him.

So what specific requests should we mention to our interceding friends?

We can ask for strength to provide the best care possible—and just to get through each day.

We can ask for wisdom and clarity to make the right decisions at the right times.

We can ask for peace, both for ourselves and the ones under our care.

We can ask that our eyes will catch glimpses of joy sprinkled throughout the day.

We can ask prayer for our families, since our spouses, children, even in-laws’ worlds are also disrupted by the demands of our caregiving.

When we can’t find the words, the time, or the energy for prayer, we can be sure that the prayers of our friends will strengthen us.

Lord, my heart is heavy and my tears are flowing. I thank You for friends who pray when I can’t find the words.
