The Whole Way

Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you.”—GENESIS 12:1 NKJV

When Abram first heard God’s call, he must have had questions. Was it safe to do as God commanded? What would happen if he didn’t? Doubts probably flooded the ancient man’s mind as he prepared for that long, mysterious journey.

As we leave our secure lives and exchange them for the unknowns of caregiving, we have doubts, too. Can we really do this—and do it well? Will God really be there for us all the way? What about our daily needs, our need for social interaction, our family relationships? We know we’re taking on a big task—how will we manage?

Without trust, we can’t walk down that path. In fact, we’ll never even start it. But if we put our hands in God’s, just as Abram did, we’ll discover that the Lord stands by us, providing for each and every need along the way. No challenge can destroy us if we walk the path He’s put us on. He’ll fulfill every promise He’s made.

By the end of our walk, we’ll discover what trust really means. And we’ll be glad we went the whole way with our Savior.

Lord, I want to walk the whole way with You. Keep my hand safely in Yours as we travel.
