“You are my lamp, O Lord; the Lord turns my darkness into light.”—Samuel 22:29
Peering through the window next to my seat, I watched the rain slice the jet’s wings as we surged upward into thick gray clouds.
Depression seemed to close in around me, as dark and menacing as the storm outside. I had been called to come home and help tend my mother, who was very sick. I was anxious about what the next few days might bring; in fact, I feared the worst. With a sigh I turned from the window and began to pray.
At that moment, bright beams of light began to dance over the seats in front of me. Startled, I looked through the window and discovered that the plane had risen high above the storm and emerged into a clear, sparkling landscape of blue sky and fleecy white clouds.
Surely my Father had chosen this moment to send this magnificent reminder that His love shines constantly upon us, an ever-faithful Presence.
