Think of some of your favorite things to do in the summer…and you might be surprised at what your pet can do, too!

Your pet can join you in many favorite activities this summer: camping, hiking, a day at the beach. But why stop there? Read on to see what other favorite summer treats have gone to the dogs!

1. Ice Cream
Buying your dog a frozen grocery store treat like Frosty Paws is one thing, but what about special canine-pleasing scoops from an ice cream truck? The first ice cream truck for dogs opened for business in London’s Regent Park. Flavors include chicken and vanilla sprinkled with dog biscuit.

2. Swimming
You might already take your dog to the beach, but what about your cat? It’s true that many cats don’t like the water, but one New York cat has taken to swimming like a duck to water. Not only does kitty Nazzaning beat the heat, but for her, the pool is also a lifesaver. The hydrotherapy helps ease her inflamed vertebrae and paralysis.

3. Camp
Check out Camp Gone to the Dogs in Marlboro, Vermont. Bunk with your dog in dorms or woodsy cabins. Activities include obedience, agility, herding, Frisbee, doggie swimming lessons, and freestyle dancing with dogs.

4. Major League Baseball
On special days baseball stadiums, such as the San Diego’s Padre’s PETCO Park sponsor a Dog Days of Summer event for pets to join their families in the stands. PETCO Park also features picnic/playgrounds just beyond the outfield fence, and holds dog adoption clinics during every Sunday home game. Catch a game and your dog might just catch a fly ball, too!

5. Walt Disney World
Who says The Happiest Place on Earth is only for people? Best Friends Pet Resort just opened four locations in and around Disney World, Orlando Florida, so your pet can have an upscale vacation too. For cats, try the Kitty Condos with lambskin bedding and daily maid service. For dogs, consider the deluxe rooms with flat screen TV and private patio. There are plenty of activities too, including nature walks, playtime, and bedtime stories. Even hamsters, turtles and, well, mice have a place to stay while you’re visiting The Mouse.
