Daily prayer keeps me mindful of my blessings, a habit I wanted to share with my 10-year-old daughter, Hannah. How could I make it fun for her? Then I stumbled across an idea: a prayer bucket!
Hannah and I jot down the names of friends and family along with their prayer requests on colorful popsicle sticks, and drop them in the bucket. Every morning Hannah selects a stick and we pray for someone to find a job, travel safely or simply have a nice day.
Just the other morning, she pulled out her grandmother’s stick. Mom had taken a fall and hurt her shoulder. “Dear God, make Nana’s shoulder good as new! Amen,” Hannah said.
Thanks to our prayer bucket, I found out the best way to be mindful of my blessings is to bless others.
