When you’re visiting someone with Alzheimer’s who lives in a special care facility, you may wonder what types of gifts to bring. The following suggestions offer practical advice for gifts that are both appropriate for someone with Alzheimer’s and easy for you to transport. They also offer opportunities for the person to engage with others who visit or live in the facility too.

1. Bring your loved one a nice container of clean, old face and hand towels to fold, and leave them at the facility for the next time.

2. Offer up a small plastic carton filled with a variety of silk and plastic flowers and a plastic vase. Encourage your loved one and the other residents to make an arrangement, and leave it in the common area before you leave, to brighten up the area.

3. Provide cutlery, along with juice and cookies so that you can have a tea party.
