Guideposts Honors Veterans Awareness Month While Abroad in Portugal

While leading a Guideposts tour of Portugal, Norman Vincent Peale’s daughter Maggie Peale Everett shares her experience celebrating U.S. veterans with Guideposts readers abroad.

Because one day is not enough, Guideposts has named the entire month of November Veterans Awareness Month. While on a Guideposts tour bus in Portugal this month, we celebrated our troops, as well. Tour member and veteran John Hawkins asked the group to observe a moment of silence to honor the men and women who have fought for their country. Then he read that famous poem “In Flanders Fields” by Manor John McCrea.

For decades, Guideposts has has had a ministry devoted to military members and their families, but this year, during Veterans Awareness Month, over 1,000 pieces of content will go out on all of our media channels as we seek donations and Guideposts subscriptions to help inspire our troops.

Our little group of 31, on a tour bus in Portugal, joined the greater Guideposts family in paying tribute to our service men and women.  It was both a proud and humble moment for us all.
