with residents.

Lisa Alden is a super hero in the eyes of residents and employees at Good Samaritan Society – Canton where she volunteers each week. Watch the video above to see how she got the name super hero.

Lisa is the Chamber of Commerce director in Canton, South Dakota, and decided to volunteer at the center after hearing about the opportunity at a Rotary meeting. When she started visiting the location, she shared so much energy and pep with residents that activities director Shirley McCallum decided to add her to the calendar every Wednesday. She came up with the title “Fun with Lisa.”

“Now I knew I had something to live up to,” says Lisa. “It was going to have to be fun or they were going to have to take me off the calendar.”

Lisa’s enthusiasm and love for the residents has made an impact on residents. “It improves the quality of their life. They definitely have something to look forward to on Wednesdays,” says Terry Majeres, Good Samaritan Society – Canton volunteer coordinator. “She’s basically inspired the rest of us to step up our game.”

These residents give me so much more joy than I think I will ever give them. I know God is helping me. I truly feel like this is a path that God has put me on.” – Lisa Alden, volunteer
