What’s your biggest source of stress? If you are like most Americans, the answer is money. In fact, a recent study from Northwestern Mutual found that financial woes keep us up at night more than personal relationship or work problems. And the situation is getting worse: in 2017, 37 percent of Americans said they felt a high or moderate level of anxiety when thinking about saving for retirement; in 2018 that number rose to 41 percent.
So whether you are facing unemployment, credit card debt, looming college tuition, insufficient retirement savings—or you just want to squirrel aside some extra cash for the holiday season, you need a plan.

Harnessing the power of prayer should also be a part of your plan. The Bible is full of verses about seeking abundance, including Psalm 115:14: “Lord, thank You for multiplying all of my resources. I am increasing. Your blessings are always more than enough.”
On October 16, OurPrayer, a service of Guideposts, will host a Financial Breakthrough Day of Prayer. Please join us at 2:00 pm for a Facebook Live event: we’ll share faith-based financial tips and pray for your requests.
“The role of prayer in having a financial breakthrough is that it helps to shift the burden from you to God,” says the Rev. Dr. Pablo R. Diaz, Vice President of Ministries for Guideposts Outreach Division. “It means that you don’t have to carry that load all by yourself. There can be a lot of pressure when you are under financial stress. Prayer allows you to release some of the stress and communicate your hopes for the situation. Prayer can also be a conduit to give you insight into what you need to do or the actions you need to take to remedy your situation. In that moment of quietness you may come to know the changes that you need to make.”
Please send us your prayer requests; our community will lift your concerns to the Lord.
