This is one of my favorite weeks at Guideposts. After spending a couple months reading thousands of manuscripts from hopeful contestants, we’ve narrowed down the finalists for our 2010 Writers Workshop to about 30 talented storytellers.
The team of judges will do a lot of thinking alone in their offices this afternoon in preparation for tomorrow morning’s long, intense meeting. We’ll each be ready to state our case for our favorite stories to make sure the best of the best get a spot in the final group of 15. Those lucky few will spend a week with us in Rye, NY, this fall, learning everything we know about inspirational writing. And that’s just the beginning. These “workshoppers” become part of the everyday work life of us Guideposts and Angels on Earth editors, as we depend on them to help us find and tell stories from all across the country. I know which 15 I want to invite. Now I just have to convince the other judges I’m right!
