Pray for the Courage to Face Change

Change is never easy, but it can give us the opportunity to grow.

Reverend Dr. Peola C. Hicks, OurPrayer Manager
Prayer is a powerful force for good. At Guideposts, we believe in the strength of prayer to bring comfort, hope, and healing. Your generous donation today will help us continue to share the power of prayer with those in need. Together, through prayer and support, we can make a difference.

When I saw the cap and gown, it hit me: What I had been anticipating for the past year was about to happen.

I have been looking forward to my youngest daughter’s graduation, and yet I find myself wary of the change we will face the next few months. Graduating from high school means a new chapter in our lives.

We have prayed for Sarah all of her life. My husband and I have given her a godly foundation that we trust will benefit her. She and I have been bonding as mother and daughter throughout her senior year. She has been able to confide in me about some of her relationship and school issues. I am going to miss her very much. The youngest in any family is usually considered the baby. From a little girl, I now see a beautiful young woman emerging.

Change is never easy. But change is good, especially when it gives us the opportunity to grow and deepen our understanding of the world and its complexities. Sarah will make new friends, experience new things, and I know that she will continue to blossom.

Courage allows us to tackle pain or difficulty without fear. I have always trusted God during difficult times, through prayer and faith in His promises. But I wonder if I am facing this one without fear. It is not fear that God won’t take care of Sarah while she’s away from us; I know God is faithful. What I am working on now, and in the months to come, is facing this change in my life—without fear.

My prayer point this week is actually a prayer request, one that we can do together. Would you pray for me to have courage, and I will pray for all of you who may be facing difficult times in your lives?

Today, I am very proud of Sarah and welcome your prayers.

God bless you!
