Of course I’ve got Christmas shopping on my mind, and figuring out what to get my teenage daughter, Louisiana, is always a challenge.
We usually do some practical shopping at the mall together, and I wrap it all up to put under the tree for her from Santa. But she loves surprises too—books I think she’ll like, always a new journal needed, anything having to do with baking…
But this year I was at a loss for something unexpected.
Then a friend told me about a cup of hot tea she’d had at a chic little café in New York this weekend. Perched on the side of the mug were a couple of angel wings made of pure sugar. A notch in the bottom of each wing kept it securely attached to the lip of the mug until you were ready to drop it in—or bite right into it, I suppose. And my Louisiana loves hot tea.
I sleuthed around the Web and (with help from Christmas angels) look what I found.
You might say it’s a splurge, but it’s Christmas and she’s been a good girl! I will resist getting the kitty cats too, however. Maybe next year, because if there’s one thing Louisiana loves more than tea, it’s her cats. And of course I love her more than all of it put together.
