Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord! (Psalm 150:6)
I praise others when they have done something great I want to share. One example is my oldest sister, who is a great cook. My family enjoys that whenever she comes to visit, she has always prepared a meal. One of our favorites is candied yams with melted marshmallows on top. I have tried to make it using her recipe, but I have to admit it never comes close to hers.
A couple of days ago I was thinking of all the good things I admire about the Lord. I wanted to give him praise, and I wanted to find out what other people think. My post on Facebook that day was, “This is a good day to give God praise… What say you?” Many people responded with comments of “Amen” or “He is worthy.”
I wanted to praise God in acknowledgment of the fact that he has perfect knowledge. My knowledge is limited on many accounts, but I can rest on what he knows. There are times when I don’t know why I meet certain people or find myself in certain places. However, it never fails that God will reveal his plan and purpose.
This happened on my recent trip to Washington, D.C. I accepted an invitation to meet with a group who had an interest in prayer. I could not see how it would fit into our current ministry, but God did. The group I met with have since put the OurPrayer widget on their website. This gives us an opportunity to pray for all of their visitors.
This deserved a shout of praise for an all-knowing God. He deserves praise for so much more. God’s mercies are new each morning and the least I can do is acknowledge him for who he is to me each day.
My prayer point is to ask you to join in the conversation and share with others why and what you praise God for.
God bless you!
