An Unlikely Princess

Going where kindness and hope are rare commodities

Michelle Cox, left, and her friend Carol Hatcher in tiara!

Carol Hatcher is my princess friend. I love this lady with her quick sense of humor and her laugh that makes everyone want to join in. She’s into fashion and bling, but it’s what’s on the inside that makes her extra beautiful.

She spends time with Jesus and that’s reflected in her face and in her sparkly personality.

Michelle Cox with her friend Carol Hatcher. To look at this suburban princess, you’d never suspect one of the places where she hangs out, but Carol loves ministering to the inmates at a men’s prison.

She’s an extension of God’s hands as she dispenses compassion and God’s Word to many who have never experienced either one. She’s making a difference as she uses the gifts God’s given her.

Darien McClung is another princess friend. She’s a lovely young woman, the kind who could easily be successful at whatever she does–but she’s chosen to serve those who need to know that someone cares.

Her big heart has led her to Thailand where she fell in love with the kids at a rescue home for children. She’s worked to help those who are caught up in human trafficking.

Now she’s moved far from home, making a difference in impoverished neighborhoods where many people won’t go, where kindness and hope are rare commodities.

Two unlikely princesses using the talents and gifts God’s given them. I love that.

You know what’s awesome? Just like with Carol and Darien, God’s given unique skills and callings to all of us. He has a plan for each of our lives–a plan that nobody else can fill.

That’s something for all of us to think about today. Are we utilizing the gifts and talents God’s given to us? He could use another unlikely princess (or a prince).

As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. (I Peter 4:10)
