Looking back at 2014, I remember so many incredible moments in nature the Lord helped me capture. I am thankful for the His help with my photography and don’t take it for granted.
When I am out photographing wildlife, I cannot always plan out the exact shot I envision. Wildlife is unpredictable to an extent.
Because I have spent so much time in the field and have watched hummingbirds for so long, I have an advantage.
I knew this immature ruby-throated hummingbird loved the blue sage. He repeatedly came back to this plant time after time, so I sat near the plant with my tripod and camera ready.
A branch was in the way, so I carefully adjusted it out of view. I find myself getting pickier and pickier with my photographs…..everything has to be perfect.
I photograph what I see and visualize the outcome of the photo, but sometimes I get excited to see the photograph came out better than planned.
That is the case with this photograph. I saw the perfectly colored brush behind the hummingbird, but my expectations were exceeded when I looked at the image I captured.
We can plan out days and weeks, but only the Lord knows what tomorrow will bring. Be thankful for today!
Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. (Ephesians 3:20, NLT)
