At Mysterious Ways, we’re always on the lookout for “celebrity ways”–stories about celebs who’ve experienced or played a part in God’s wonder. Like Russell Crowe’s incredible encounter with a young fan. Or the amazing sign Barbra Streisand received before filming Yentl.
Well, we can add Taylor Swift to that list! According to WBRZ, three teenagers were driving home late at night from a recent Taylor Swift concert in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The driver, Elizabeth Dazzio, fell asleep at the wheel and the car was totaled. Dazzio was unconscious and the other two girls had no way of escaping or calling for help–their cell phones were either dead or couldn’t be found in the wreck.
“You could smell the gas and smoke,” one of the girls told WBRZ. “I was just thinking we need to get out of this car.”
Then inspiration struck. Taylor Swift gives away light-up bracelets at her concerts that flash along with her songs. Maybe they could work as sort of emergency flares? The plan worked–another driver saw the bracelets and stopped to help. The girls were pulled out of the wreck and are doing fine.
Taylor Swift tweeted about the incident, calling it “unreal”:
I have to agree. It’s kinda crazy when you think about it. All the little things that had to come together for this miracle to happen, from the girls’ keeping the bracelets to Taylor Swift’s decision to give them out at her concert in the first place.
