Doing the Lord’s Work

Orchids remind me of the importance of doing the Lord’s work.

I love when kind people go out of their way to help you accomplish the task at hand. I mentioned such an encounter in a previous post on kindness when two men turned around on the jogging trail and ran in the opposite direction so I could photograph a hawk.

The lady slipper orchids I wanted to photograph were in a dark section in the conservatorium at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia. Without good light, I would not be able to capture the photograph I wanted.

I mentioned my dilemma to one of the workers. She kindly brought the plant into a well-lit area and placed it on a table for me to photograph. Wow—I was ecstatic!

I love how the flowers look like a pair of ballet slippers. I personally know the Lord has a sense of humor. He shows it to me all the time! The slippers are also an example of how creative He is.

We weren’t given a pair of slippers when we were born. Each of us has to go and do the Lord’s work in the world. We weren’t promised it would be easy.

We have a certain task to accomplish on this Earth. I hope I hit the mark! Will you join the dance?
