Today’s guest blogger is Kevin Eans, Guideposts photo editor.
Matt Staver, one of our contributing photographers, recently sent the above image to me. He had to drive from Denver to Dinosaur, Colorado, for an early morning shoot. His subject would be Lou Dean, an active Guideposts workshopper, and we needed new photos of her for several upcoming stories in Angels on Earth and Guideposts’ The Joys of Christmas.
We knew Matt could get the job done, in a variety of setups outside of Lou’s home, some with her dogs in the frame, some without, so his five-hour drive seemed more than worth it.
We had one worry in following our safety guidelines for photography shoots we’re able to assign during the pandemic—we were uncomfortable with Matt staying in a motel the night before the shoot.
Matt found the perfect solution. He just camped out on nearby Bureau of Land Management land. Look at that starry night and tell me you don’t imagine angels are up there looking out for him. I can’t wait to see the rest of Matt’s images!
