[MUSIC PLAYING] Hi, it’s Rick Hamlin and Psalm 51. I have moments of despair. I have moments of doubt. I have moments when I think that I haven’t done much of anything and that I’m a real failure.

Well, that’s really hard, because when you feel like that– and sometimes, it happens to me– I feel that I’m unloved, not worthy of being loved. I forget those who love me. I even forget God loves me. I was in a mood like that when I read this Psalm.

And I found that phrase so helpful– “create in me a clean heart, oh, God. Renew a right spirit within me. Create in me a clean heart, oh, God. Renew a right spirit within me.”

I needed renewal. I needed to let go of the negative thoughts, the doubts, the sense of failure. I needed to reclaim God’s love, the love of my family, my friends. And I said this prayer, and it helped create in me a clean heart, oh, God. And renew a right spirit within me. Psalm 51.
