Hi, my name is Ansley, and I work on the digital content team at Guideposts. So that means the website and social media. I work with a great group of people.

And today I wanted to take a moment and tell you a little bit about what gives me hope. And the good thing is that there’s so much that gives me hope that I can’t really fit it all in one video.

But today I wanted to talk about the people. And by that, I mean the people of New York and around the country, the essential workers who are showing up every day to take care of us. The doctors, the nurses, the respiratory therapists, the subway and bus drivers, the people who work in grocery stores, the pharmacy clerks. All of these people are showing up every day and going through this really hard time to take care of us, and it’s a really wonderful thing for which I’m very grateful, and it gives me a lot of hope.

And it also gives me hope, you’ve probably heard that at seven o’clock every night in New York, people come to their windows and cheer. And it’s really kind of an amazing thing, because people are cheering to thank those essential workers. And you’re just sitting in your apartment, because we’re all staying home, and suddenly you start to hear this cheering and this clapping, and people ring cowbells and they bang on pots and pans, and sometimes people sing. And it’s really, really wonderful, and it’s a great reminder of the resilience of the human spirit and the community and connection that we all share, both in New York and around the world.

And so I just wanted to take a moment and focus on that and hope that it might offer you a bit of hope today. Thanks, bye.
