Hello from OKC

Guideposts Editor-in-Chief Edward Grinnan takes a quick break for an update on his Promise of Hope book tour!

Greetings from the road!

I’m in Oklahoma City tonight for a signing after arriving here from Houston earlier, where I did a signing and met with Joel Osteen, who is every bit as nice as you would think. It was a great privilege to be with him.

But today was also a real Friday the Thirteenth as far as travel was concerned. The lines at George Bush Airport were horrendous so it was probably a blessing that my flight was nearly two hours late leaving the gate. I never would have made it otherwise. With that delay you might think the airline would have enough time to get my checked bag on the plane. Apparently not.

I arrived in OKC but my bag remained in Houston and was put on the next flight. Then the GPS in the rental car decided to take me to an abandoned crack house instead of the Marriott. I finally managed to make it to the hotel just ahead of my bag, so I was spared from having to arrive for the Barnes & Noble appearance in shorts and a vintage University of Michigan T-shirt.

All was made well, though. I had a wonderful dinner with Lyndle and Barbara Price, longtime members of the Norman Vincent Peale National Advisory Cabinet. Then at the signing a number of Guideposts workshoppers and friends showed up. Thanks Stephanie, Melanie, Holmes, Christy, Angel and Cheri.

Of course I also got to meet a lot of readers and that always puts me in a good mood. So it all worked out, Friday the Thirteenth notwithstanding. This was a great stop on the tour. Next I’m off to Indianapolis for a signing Sunday afternoon. Then Minneapolis on Monday.

Come on out and say hi. I’d love to meet you.
