A Small Role in Someone Else’s Miracle

Ordinary people making miracles happen.

The other day, I kept meaning to email Peggy Frezon, an author and frequent contributor to Guideposts, in regards to a story she’d written for Mysterious Ways magazine. But it was a busy day and I completely forgot about it.

Until about 11 o’clock at night. By then it was too late to email Peggy. I’d just have to email her back in the morning. I contemplated sending myself a reminder so I wouldn’t forget. But, then again, how hard could it be to remember something so simple?

Well, pretty hard, actually! I got to work and forgot to email Peggy again. Around noon, I was in the middle of editing a big story, when something kind of strange happened. A name popped into my head. I heard it like a whisper. Just one word. Peggy.

I stopped everything and sent Peggy an email, then got back to editing.

That was it, or so I thought. You see, shortly after, Peggy emailed me back.

“Well, Diana, your email is a mysterious ways itself…”she wrote.

Apparently Peggy and her mom had been praying just 20 minutes before she got my email. They’d asked God for clarity regarding something my email happened to pertain to.

“I guess God made it clear!” she said.

I was just amazed. Not only about how God had used me to play a small role in Peggy’s little miracle. But also how he’d used something like my forgetfulness to make it happen!

There’s something so comforting about that. God doesn’t just use superhero-type people or those who seemingly have all the answers. He uses ordinary people, and even sometimes frazzled editors like me!
