At the Zoo Atlanta, there are several giraffes. You can pay to hand-feed the giraffes from Twiga Terrace, standing eye-to-eye with these amazing creatures the Lord made and feeding them lettuce, part of their regular diet.
The giraffes have several characteristics that make them stand out greatly from the other animals the Lord made. They have horn-like appendages, long legs and necks and distinctive patterns in their coats.
What’s neat about the patterns on a giraffe is that each one is unique–very beneficial in helping researchers identify giraffes in captivity and the wild.
We, too, are unique—each of us having a different fingerprint. He knows what others cannot physically see or know, such as our thoughts, fears, emotional pain and everything there is to know about us. Yet He loves us!
He even formed us inside our mother’s womb:
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. (Psalm 139:13-14, NIV)
