I have a strange question for you today…do you think a pair of men’s socks can be miraculous?
Let me explain. Our President and CEO John Temple came to visit the Guideposts office in New York a while back. He kicked off the meeting with a funny story.
Back in September, he attended the Guideposts National Cabinet Meeting in California. He prayed to God for a productive meeting and the building of many long-lasting relationships.
On the first day of the conference, John and his wife met with two new cabinet members, Jerre and Mary Joy Stead.
Before the two couples sat down to lunch, John noticed something unusual–he and Jerre were wearing the same exact light brown, patterned socks!
John pointed out the coincidence, a little shocked. And that incident, small as it was, broke the ice and led to a successful relationship.
And a lot of laughter, both at the lunch and back at our meeting in New York. Right away, Mysterious Ways managing editor Adam Hunter jokingly labeled it as a “mysterious ways”!
Executive editor Rick Hamlin joined in. “It’s a lunch-break miracle!” he said with a grin.
So what was it? Could something like matching socks really be a miracle?
Sure, it was a small moment. But still miraculous in my book. After all, anytime the creator of the universe moves, that event is inherently miraculous because of His involvement.
No matter if the wonder is big or small–a pair of socks or the crossing of the Red Sea. Wherever God is present, miracles happen.
