If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly. Romans 12:8 (NLT)
Each and every one of us has a spiritual gift we were born with. We have an inherent ability to help others in a unique and profound way. Jesus tells us to let our light shine before men in such a way that they may see our good works. When we share our spiritual gifts with others, we glorify God.
To find out what these gifts are, spend time in prayer. Ask that the Lord grant you insight as to how you can best serve Him. Think about what special gifts you bring to those around you.
Are you a good listener? Do people feel better after talking things over with you? Are you a healer? Do you have a generous heart that manifests itself by your giving to those in need around you?
I took a Bible study class that helped me figure out my spiritual gifts. One of them was Listening. When I went off by myself and thought about it, I realized that I had always known that. I thought over experiences in my life and realized that while I love to talk, most of the time I would be listening to others. That people would feel better after talking to me about things. I also thought over times in prayer when the Lord told me to be still, to be calm or to be at peace. To Listen.
Faith step: Use your spiritual gifts. Be prayerful, calm and trust in Jesus’ words. Let your light shine before men so that they may benefit from your spiritual gifts.
