Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.  —Ephesians 3:20 (NKJV)

A stressful season of moving and remodeling had taken its toll on me. Looking at a mountain of boxes and looking forward to seemingly endless projects, made me wonder if I could handle it. I was doubting God’s provision and worrying as a result

About that time, I saw a news report that grabbed my attention. The reporter explained that each state has an office to store unclaimed treasures. These include forgotten bank accounts and other unclaimed assets.

Just for fun, I went online and checked. To my surprise, I found an unclaimed bank account from forty-three years ago, owned by my mom and dad. I remember going to that bank as a child. When my parents moved to a different state, they must have forgotten that account. It wasn’t a life-changing amount, but it certainly would help my octogenarian mom. I called.

“Mom, guess what! You’re richer than you think!” We had a fun conversation, and soon, she would have some surprise cash in hand. As our conversation ended, I began to realize it was true of me too. I’m richer than I think.

I was letting my mountain of work obscure the even bigger mountain of my blessings. God had been faithful. He had provided strength, helpers, finances, and encouragement along the way. I had the power of prayer and the Word of God. I possessed spiritual blessings beyond comparison. His provision was perfect. My worry was wasted in light of a God Who provides. I’m glad I found some unclaimed treasure for my mom. Now it was my turn to reclaim the treasures I found when I found Christ.

Father, teach me to enjoy my inheritance as a child of the King.
