A Memorial Prayer for the Newtown Community

Join us as we pray for the victims and families of the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy.

As we remember the precious souls of the following children: Charlotte Bacon, Daniel Barden, Olivia Engel, Josephine Gay, Ana M. Marquez-Greene, Dylan Hockley, Madeline F. Hsu, Catherine V. Hubbard, Chase Kowalski, Jesse Lewis, James Mattioli, Grace McDonnell, Emile Parker, Jack Pinto, Noah Pozner, Caroline Previdi, Jessica Rekos, Avielle Richman, Benjamin Wheeler, and Allison N. Wyatt, we are reminded of how beautiful they are, and how much they are loved and will be missed. In the words of President Obama, the world is grieving and so are we at OurPrayer, a prayer service of Guideposts.

Everlasting and Gracious God, Your wisdom surpasses our understanding. We come to You today asking that You watch over each parent as their child is laid to rest during this week. Give them the courage to stand in the face of enormous odds. Help them to say farewell in anticipation of meeting them again in heaven. We ask that You would lead and guide them to seek Your face that Your light would shine upon their darkness. We pray for Your favor upon them as they approach this season. Fill them with Your presence and love in such a way that they know You are with them. Asking and believing, we pray in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Our caring volunteers and staff will gather in prayer on Friday, Dec. 21, at 9:30 am. Please submit a prayer request for those suffering in the wake of this event.
