Be Free!

Freedom is your birthright as a child of God—freedom from legalism and fear, freedom from habits and circumstances, freedom from the past. But people often fail to stand fast in that birthright. How can you make the most of your freedom?

1. Acknowledge your freedom as a gift from God.
John 8:36 promises that when Christ sets you free, “you will be free indeed.” And the Apostle Paul proclaims “the glorious liberty of the children of God” (Romans 8:21), encouraging us to “Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free” (Galatians 5:1).

2. Break free from the past.
Everyone has things they’ve done—or things that have been done to them—that they’d like to forget. Often, forgetting is hard to do. But the hard truth is this: Your experiences will either make you better or bitter. The choice is yours. You can’t change your past but can accept it — then let it go. Say goodbye to painful memories and let God free you for a better life. In John 10:10, Jesus says, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” God is planning great things for you!

3.  Trust God.
No human life is free from stress or problems. But God will help you with each trouble that comes your way—whether physical, financial, emotional or spiritual. You don’t have to cope on your own; you are a child of God, and your Father wants to help. “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7).
