Prayer Is Always in Style

Prayer is a spiritual staple in all seasons; prayer requests never go out of style.

Prayer blogger Peola Hicks

The current fashion of the day seems to change faster than I can keep up. When I travel I notice how quickly a style trending in New York makes its way to Atlanta and Los Angeles. I can remember years ago when short skirts were so in style that skirts below the knees were nowhere to be found. Just because something is in fashion does not mean that I have to wear it. It is my choice. Some things come and go, but there are some things that do not change.

Prayer is a spiritual staple that is good for all seasons and works around the world through the power of the Lord Jesus. I have the great opportunity to manage the OurPrayer global network. This allows me to see prayer requests from others and to hear how God answers prayer.

Some of the prayer requests include prayers for healing of various kinds. The healing requests are usually for diseases, illnesses or recovery from surgeries. Sometimes they are for emotional healing for oneself or a loved one. There is a scriptural basis for these requests. In Exodus 15:26, God is declared as our healer. Again in Matthew 4:23, “And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people.”

It is good to know that some things never go out of style. We ask people to submit their prayer requests, but we also ask them to tell us how God has been faithful in answering their prayers. Here are some of the anonymous answered prayers you’ve shared with us:

  • Thanks for everyone here helping lift up my wife, Angie, in our time of need. She found out she had cancer and just had a hysterectomy and the cancer is now gone. God has been with us and I am most thankful.
  • I asked for prayer for Mary’s back surgery, and her recovery, and she is doing well. I asked for my son’s eyes to improve, and they are getting better after his Lasik eye surgery.
  • Thank you, Heavenly Father, for blessing, healing and saving my mother, brother, family, friends, neighbors and me. Continue to bless, guide and protect us.

When my own sister-in-law was diagnosed with cancer the situation looked very bad. We prayed over two years of watching her go in and out of hospitals. She believed that God would heal her; five years later, she is diagnosed as cancer-free. God is a healer.

My prayer point is to encourage you to continue praying to God for healing. Don’t allow discouragement to cause you to stop praying. Join us for a Healing Day of Prayer on September 20. We can believe God together for you or your loved one. You are not alone; you are in great company.

God bless you.
