“You’re taking a job where!?”

That was the question I’d heard over and over from my friends and colleagues at the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.

“Guideposts,” I’d say emphatically, meeting blank stares. I’d grown up professionally with these people, working as an assistant prosecutor at the DA’s office for 14 years—much of that time leading our efforts to combat human trafficking. We’d worked long nights and even holidays together, usually without much sleep and always with unhealthy food. The bonds we forged in those hours made us a family, one held together by the belief that we could make the world a better place one case, one person, at a time. But no matter how hard they tried, my colleagues just couldn’t wrap their heads around why I would want to leave.

For me, the answer was simple—Guideposts. I grew up around Guideposts. I lived down the block from the headquarters, my father worked here for more than 30 years (twice as CEO), our neighbors and friends had worked here, and I was even fortunate enough to have met Dr. and Mrs. Peale. Whether for Easter Egg hunts or family picnic days, ours was a Guideposts family. But it was more than simply being together…. Guideposts was a group of people who believed in something bigger and more important than themselves.

So when the opportunity arose for me to “come home,” I seized the chance. I spent many years trying to fight evil in the world, and now I’ve come to a place where our job is to put good back into it.

I am blessed to be connected to the Guideposts community of readers and friends, united in our shared belief that anything is possible with hope, faith and prayer. We need your strength and spirit in this world, and by sharing your message and your stories, you can truly help us all love more and hate less.

I’m blessed to be home.
