Today’s summer fun will be tomorrow’s memories…reminders of God’s blessings in our lives. And the good news is there is still time to make more memories this season.
When looking back on past summers, one of my favorite memories took place when I was much younger. I had just met a beautiful girl from Brooklyn at a youth summer camp and finally worked up the courage to ask her out on a date. I took the subway to her home so that we could go to Times Square for an early dinner at a Chinese restaurant. Afterward, we walked through the city chatting as young people do, hoping the day would never end. Four years later, Elba and I married and raised two wonderful children who have helped us create many more memories.
As summer presses on, we still have time to create new memories that fill our minds and hearts with joy. Elba and I continue to enjoy our summers together and make the most of the time left in this season. Someday we will look back on the summer of 2017 and remember the boat ride with friends on the Hudson River, our trip to Detroit to visit our son, the party in City Island with friends and family, and much more. What is your favorite summer memory? Please share with us.
Lord, thank you for the beauty of summer, the memories we’ve made and those we’ll make today.
