Here we are at the end of another busy week. As someone once said, the days are long and the weeks are short. But it’s all good.
We’re getting ready to ship the May issue to our printer and digital distributor. We do this every month, of course, but this issue is special. In May we introduce an exciting new redesign of the magazine.
Periodically we review the design and presentation of the stories you love. We want to make sure those stories look great on the page or on your screen. We’ve updated our typography and layouts so that you have a better, richer reading experience. The look is clean and contemporary but still familiar.
You tell us that reading Guideposts is like sitting down with a good friend and sharing a cup of tea and some good conversation. We want to make sure that environment is comfortable and inviting. I know you’re really going to like the new design. We’ve put an old friend of ours on the cover, Andie MacDowell, who is starring in a new Hallmark TV series based on the work of another good friend of Guideposts, author Debbie Macomber. That’s an unbeatable combination. Andie tells about the deep and lasting effect on her life and her faith that growing up in a small town had.
But that’s May. You’re probably just digging into March. Have you read Rick Hamlin’s story yet? “Borrowed Blessings” is an excerpt from his new book, 10 Prayers You Can’t Live Without: How to Talk to God About Anything. Rick is executive editor of Guideposts and my friend for better than 20 years. The more I know about Rick, the more I learn about prayer. Prayer is central to everything in Rick’s life and his wonderful book is full of wisdom, honesty, advice and terrific stories, both his own and others’. I’m incredibly proud of the work he’s done. Check out Rick’s 10 Prayers video. It’s great.
Here’s another project you’ll want to know about. We’ve created some topic-centered eBooks. The first two feature our most powerful stories on forgiveness and healing. We’ve also collected the best devotionals of Marion Bond West and Elizabeth Sherrill, two of your favorite Daily Guideposts writers. These are some of their most memorable and inspiring writings about their lives and their faith. You can find all four eBooks here.
I need to run. This weekend Julee and I have sworn to get started on our taxes. Next week I’m a judge for the American Society of Magazine Editors’ annual National Magazine Awards, so I have a ton of manuscripts to get through. And Millie will want to go to the park…
Busy, busy, busy. But as I said, it’s all good. What are you up to? Post below. And thanks for supporting Guideposts.
