Erin Napier: Hey, Guidepost. We’re Erin and Ben Napier.

Ben Napier: Yeah, we’re the host of HGTV’S Home Town, which is shot right here in Laurel Mississippi.

We wrote a book called Make Something Good Today. And we got the title from Erin’s blog that she wrote every day for eight years. That blog was something that at the time didn’t feel like that big of a deal.

Erin: I was just documenting the little things that happened every day. But then when you look back across eight years, every little thing was connected and led to big, big, big things that we could never see coming.

This was a journal. It was very personal, and it was very near and dear to us. And so this book–it’s a memoir that I originally wrote the journal. And then Ben was living life right alongside me this whole time.

So it’s both of our perspectives on all these little things that added up to very good things. And it was about how we bloomed where we’re planted and how it takes a shift in your perspective to find the joy in everything around you and in your career and in your town right where you live. This book is super personal for us. It’s kind of more like a scrapbook.

Ben: While a TV show was never even a dream for us, a book was something that we both really wanted to do.

Erin: It was a major dream for us to get to write this book. And I got to design it. I mean, my degree is in graphic design. So I designed the cover and every page inside. It’s a labor of love.

Ben: The book reads as beautifully as it is designed, and that’s a pretty good compliment.
