There’s a reason F. Scott Fitzgerald once wrote that “life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.” Autumn is a season of change, a time when anything seems possible and inspiration abounds.

It can be easy to get caught up in the busyness of life and miss all that fall has to offer. Here are some practical ways to make the most of the Autumn season:

  1. Visit a pumpkin patch.
  2. Paint or carve your pumpkins.
  3. While you’re on a pumpkin kick, try your hand at a new pumpkin recipe. Perhaps some Pumpkin Gingersnap Cheesecake or Spiced Pumpkin Butter?
  4. Hang a leafy wreath on your door.
  5. Get lost in a corn maze.
  6. Enjoy a fall hay ride.
  7. Go apple picking.
  8. Mull the apples into a spiced cider.
  9. Or perfect your apple pie recipe!
  10. Light a fall-scented candle.
  11. Take a hike and enjoy the fall foliage around you.
  12. Break out the slow cooker and enjoy delicious chili, soups and stews.
  13. Use the change of season as an excuse to do some fall house cleaning.
  14. Gather with friends to watch football.
  15. Enjoy a cozy night in and pop some corn (in the fireplace, if you have one).
  16. Snuggle up with a cozy book.
  17. Switch out your summer closet for fall sweaters and flannels.
  18. Trim back your garden to prepare it for winter hibernation.

  21. Treat your pet to a long walk or special costume.
