16 of the Best Made-for-TV Holiday Movies Airing This Year

The best holiday movies airing on TV this season.

The countdown to Christmas is here and there are more than 50 holiday movies coming to the small screen this season. The next few weeks are  packed with uplifting Christmas movies featuring some of your favorite performers. Here are the movies we’re most looking forward to:

1. The Princess Switch – Netflix 

Vanessa Hudgens stars in this holiday-themed version of The Prince and the Pauper. When a duchess and a baker with a startling resemblance decide to switch lives they get more than they bargained for—and end up falling in love with each other’s beaus.

2. My Christmas Inn – Lifetime 

Business woman Jen Taylor (Tia Mowry) is forced to journey to Alaska when she inherits an inn from her aunt. While there, she begins to fall in love with the town—and with a handsome lawyer.

3. A Veteran’s Christmas – Hallmark Movies & Mysteries 

An unlikely pair find love when honorably discharged marine Grace—who is struggling after being separated from her K9—is stranded in a small town after her car breaks down and discovers the joy of Christmas.

4. The Christmas Chronicles – Netflix 

Two siblings receive the surprise of a lifetime when they accidentally sneak onto Santa’s sleigh. Kurt Russel plays a bad-boy version of Santa Claus, who must team up with the pair to save Christmas.

5. The Christmas Contract – Lifetime

Cast members from the teen show One Tree Hill star in this kooky film that centers on the romance that occurs when a woman named Jolie (Hilarie Burton) makes her best friend’s brother (Robert Buckley) pretend to date her so she can make her ex-boyfriend jealous.

6. Christmas at the Palace – Hallmark 

A former professional ice skater is hired to train a prince’s daughter for a skating competition. She begins to fall for the prince, but does she have what it takes to be royal?

7. Pride, Prejudice, and Mistletoe – Hallmark

A successful businesswoman (Lacey Chabert) returns home and is forced into running a charity event with an old rival. As she rediscovers what truly matters in life, she reconciles with her father and falls for the man she used to despise.

8. Poinsettias for Christmas – Lifetime 

Bethany Joy Lenz and John Schneider co-star in this film about a daughter who returns home to help save her family’s poinsettia farm and is reminded of how much she misses small town life.

9. A Very Nutty Christmas – Lifetime 

Melissa Joan Hart plays a recently-dumped baker who is surprised to wake up on Christmas morning to find a Nutcracker Prince (Barry Watson) come to life in her living room.

10. A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding – Netflix 

The sequel to last year’s Christmas hit finds Amber on the verge of marrying Prince Richard. But their love is threatened when Amber begins to question if she truly has what it takes to be queen.

11. Christmas Wonderland – Hallmark 

A gallery curator returns for the holidays to babysit her niece and nephew. She runs into her high school love and volunteers to help him set up the high-school dance, and finds herself falling in love with life in the small town—and with the boy she left behind.

12. Life Size 2 – Freeform 

The sequel to the hit 2000 fantasy movie finds Tyra Banks reprising her role as Grace—a doll who came to life in the original—floundering in her role as CEO of a toy company.

13. Santa’s Boots – Lifetime 

Christmas meets Cinderella when Nick (a young Santa Claus) disappears and a woman (Broadway star Megan Hilty) who was working as his “elf” uses the only clue she has available to find him: his black boot.

14. Christmas Pen Pals – Lifetime

Grey’s Anatomy favorite Sarah Drew stars as a heartbroken app creator who signs up a for pen pal service when she returns home for the holidays, and finds herself falling in love with the anonymous letter writer.

15. Christmas Made to Order – Hallmark 

Mean Girls’ Jonathan Bennett plays an architect who hires a holiday coordinator (Alexa PenaVega) when he unexpectedly has to host his family for the holidays. He’s surprised to find the planning brings him closer to his family—and to the coordinator.

16. A Midnight Kiss – Hallmark 

A party planner (Adelaide Kane) has one week to prepare for the New Year’s Eve party of a lifetime and must rely on her brother’s friend (Carlos PenaVega) to help her pull it off.  As they work together, she’s surprised to find herself falling for the last person she expected.
