Christian music fans can see some of their favorite artists perform onstage at the Dove Awards on October 15 or when the event is broadcast on October 20.

Music legends Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, CeCe Winans and Steven Curtis Chapman will give a joint performance to honor the awards show’s 50th anniversary. Grant won her first Dove Award in 1983 and Chapman became the most-honored artist in 2013 when he accepted his 58th award. This year he’s nominated for Bluegrass/Country/Roots Album of the year for his homage to Kentucky, Where The Bluegrass Grows.

Matt Maher, Mark Lowry and the Gaither Vocal Band will also perform a special tribute to gospel legends Bill and Gloria Gaither. Bill was the one to first propose the idea for a Christian music award to the Gospel Music Association in 1968.

The night will also be packed with performances from solo artists. Kirk Franklin will bring his signature fiery performing style to the Dove stage. TobyMac, who spoke with Guideposts.org in 2018 about how the challenges of raising a son with a disability impact his music, will also perform.

Guideposts cover star Lauren Daigle leads the artists with six nominations. She shared her story of faith and chronic illness in the February 2019 issue. She is competing for Artist of the Year alongside Hillsong United, MercyMe and TobyMac.

“This year, to commemorate our golden anniversary, we will celebrate some iconic Dove Awards moments from the last 50 years,” GMA President Jackie Patillo said in the press release announcing the 2019 nominees. “This milestone reminds us all of the extraordinary people whose shoulders we are standing on today and how the sound has evolved over the years!”

The live show is on October 15 at Lipscomb University’s Allen Arena, in Brentwood, TN. Fans can also watch the televised event, which will be broadcast on TBN on Sunday, October 20 at 8 p.m. EST.
