The first trailer for Paramount’s upcoming Ben-Hur: A Tale of Christ remake is here and it’s action-packed.
The tale of Judah Ben-Hur, a prince who finds revenge and redemption after being forced into slavery at the hands of his adopted brother, is based off of Lew Wallace’s best-selling novel–one that’s been hailed as the most influential Christian book of the 19th century. The 1959 film version starring Charlton Heston in the titular role, lived up to the book’s hype and won 11 Academy Awards. That means the 2016 version starring Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire) and Morgan Freeman and produced by power couple Mark Burnett and Roma Downey, has some pretty big sandals to fill. From the trailer, it looks like they’ve got it covered.
Battle sequences, shipwrecks and Gladiator-style chariot races ensure this will be a summer blockbuster to remember.
Ben-Hur: A Tale of Christ hits theaters August 12th.
