When Waiting Is Worth It

Parents, talk to your teen daughters about her options when it comes to romantic relationships. Tell her that God loves her and wants the best for her. She doesn’t need to have a physical relationship with every guy she dates.

How parents can counsel their teen daughters about sex.

It’s interesting that we have many commercials that tell teen girls that it’s okay to have physical relationships with their boyfriends. Our media, magazines and celebrities glamorize premarital sex, but they don’t talk about the consequences and disappointments that happen when the relationships end.

Is your daughter or granddaughter at risk? If so, it’s not too late. We all make mistakes and thankfully we have a loving God who forgives us and gives us unlimited chances to make it right.

Talk to your daughter and tell her that God loves her and wants the best for her. She doesn’t need to have a physical relationship with every guy she dates. If she has crossed the physical line with a guy, let her know that God allows new beginnings. She can start over and start anew. She is worth it.

1)  Few regret waiting.
Let your daughter know that many people have regrets after having premarital sex, but few ever regret waiting.

2)  Your opinion counts.
Talk to your daughter. She
does listen to you, whether or not you think otherwise. She’ll think twice before making her decision to wait or not if she knows your opinion about it.

3) She can start anew.
If your daughter has chosen to have sex before marriage and has regrets, let her know that she is loved and that she can start anew.

Stay encouraged today. There is hope. There is grace. There is love. God is ready to use you to help her. Remember, the Lord does not make mistakes and is working out his plans for you and your teen daughter.

Forget the former things;
 do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
 and streams in the wasteland. (Isaiah 43:18-19, NIV)
