Hi, my name is Jeanette Levellie and I am addicted to sugar.
I found this out about a year and a half ago when I decided to go off of sugar for physical health reasons. And then I realized how dependent I was on sugar. And the day that I was praying And the day that I was praying and I said to the Lord, “I’m addicted to sugar,” was the turning point for me where I realized I needed more help than to just simply change my diet.
So I started praying and asking God for the help that I needed. And he directed me to many different solutions. You can see an example of the kind of things I keep on hand when I’m craving sugar to help satisfy that need. Fruit, nuts, berries in particular, some granola bars are very low in sugar, popcorn.
But addiction to sugar for me was more than just a physical craving, it was a need for emotional security and esteem and self respect. So, when I pray, when I sing, when I exercise, when I meditate, especially in God’s word, when I go outside, I play with my cats, I do puzzles.
Of course, reading the Bible and devotional books, those are things that help keep my mind off myself and my sugar cravings and just help me focus on my life and living life to the fullest.
