Why Nutrition Is Important for People with Alzheimer’s

Your loved one may have shown little interest in food lately. Various issues associated with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia can bring about a diminished appetite. Among the possible reasons your loved one might lose interest in eating:  failure to recognize food, medication side effects, inadequate exercise and an inability to smell and taste food.  

Nutrition, however, is vital to the health of any older adult person, especially one who has dementia. Improper nutrition can lead to weight loss, complications to the condition and worsening symptoms.
