You are the God who performs miracles… Psalm 77:14

God sent me my best friend through a series of miracles. I lived in Michigan; Wanda lived in California. We’d never met or spoken. She produced a popular radio talk show, and she’d emailed me about being a guest. I’d never called a radio producer and had no reason to call Wanda, but I couldn’t get her name out of my head.

Obviously, God was nudging me. So one afternoon I emailed her three songs, thinking God wanted me to do some networking for a friend. I dialed Wanda’s number, and when she answered, told her I was calling to “get to know her.”

Later, she confessed that my actions seemed weird to her, since the songs were all about women struggling with despair. But during that call, Wanda—who’d planned her suicide for just a few days following—poured out her story to me.

So, I flew to California to meet Wanda and drive her to Michigan to rest until I could accompany her for trauma treatment for childhood abuse. Although neither she nor I had the resources to pay for her life-changing treatment, by the day we arrived at the clinic, God had miraculously provided for needed fees, as well as travel expenses.

Yes, God performs miracles and changes lives—often when we least expect it. Today, Wanda and I both live with chronic illness and help care for each other (and my chronically ill husband). What miracles have you seen in the mayhem?
