This week I had a very nice surprise in my goal of keeping up with healthy lifestyle.

In 2001 when I started gaining weight I put away all of my “skinny” clothes one size at a time. And I added to the larger sizes, sometimes skipping two sizes, as the scale climbed higher and higher. As I have lost weight over the past two years I have started bringing back all of the “skinny” clothes I had saved.

On Sunday evening while looking for something to wear for work Monday, I kept coming back to a size medium sweater that I have not worn in 10 years. So I said to myself, “At least try it on before you dismiss it as an option.” Much to my surprise it fit! So, on Monday as I got ready for work and put on the sweater, I kept giving myself mental pats on the back for all the hard work of losing weight and becoming healthier.

“The pain of self discipline is so much better than the pain of regret.” I don’t know who that quote is from but I heard it at a Weight Watchers meeting and it has stuck with me every since.

Even better? I tried on another “skinny” size medium sweater and it looks like I’ll be wearing that one too!
