Military Day of Prayer

We can pray that God will be their refuge. We can pray that God is with them in their times of trouble.

Prayer is a powerful force for good. At Guideposts, we believe in the strength of prayer to bring comfort, hope, and healing. Your generous donation today will help us continue to share the power of prayer with those in need. Together, through prayer and support, we can make a difference.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. (Psalms 46:1)

God has called us to pray for others. As a prayer ministry, OurPrayer counts it a privilege to intercede for our military troops stationed around the world, who give their lives on a regular basis to protect the freedom of others.

Every branch of the military is on the frontlines facing terrorism and injustice for the cause of freedom. They leave the comfort of civilian life to answer the call of duty. When we hear of the danger our military faces each day, our hearts break, for we know that the people who serve are mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles and friends who could be doing something closer to home.

On Memorial Day, we remember those who have given their lives in combat. But there is also merit to the idea of giving people flowers while they are living. It is a simple way to show honor. We may not be able to give flowers to everyone serving in our military, but we can set aside a day of prayer specifically for them—it is our way of giving them honor while they are living. It is a way to show our appreciation for the fact that they risk their lives to protect ours.

God will bless them if we pray. God can see and go into foxholes where others cannot go. God can provide them strength. We can pray that God will be their refuge. We can pray that God is with them in their times of trouble. Our prayers last longer than flowers. Our prayers reach the throne of God on their behalf, and they will receive blessings that we may never know.

We would love for you to submit your prayer request for our Military Day of Prayer on May 28. You may know someone by name you would like to pray for, and if not you can offer a prayer for those who lead our military. They need God’s guidance as well.

The biggest challenge and obstacle to prayer is time. God is ready to hear our prayer and my call to you is to set aside 15 minutes to offer a prayer of thanksgiving and a prayer of petition for our military. They do for us what we cannot do. I believe we can do for them what we should do. Pray.

God bless you!
