Prayer is a powerful force for good. At Guideposts, we believe in the strength of prayer to bring comfort, hope, and healing. Your generous donation today will help us continue to share the power of prayer with those in need. Together, through prayer and support, we can make a difference.

[MUSIC PLAYING] Hi. Rick Hamlin, Psalm 49. Remember that old saying you can’t put a U-Haul to a hearse? All those good things in life you want to take and hold with you, you can’t take them into the next life. Well, think about all the money we all spend on storing things, thinking we’ll need them someday. Well, often, we don’t. And the next generation has to go through and sort them out.

It’s hard not to hold onto things. I become very jealous sometimes when I look at people and they seem to have so much more than I have. A better place to live, lots of money, jewelry, all those things. Nice suits. But you gotta let it go.

And there’s this phrase in this psalm, “be not afraid when one is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased, for when he dies, he shall carry nothing away. His glory shall not descend after him.”

There are glories in this life. They are wonderful. But we don’t need to hold onto them so tight. We can’t take them with us. No U-Haul connected to that hearse.
