Admitting that we are wrong or that we have acted poorly is difficult to do. No one is excused from this–not preachers, politicians, business leaders or others. People from all walks of life struggle to confess their wrongs.

Anyone who has walked with guilt on their mind and heart knows the price it has on their soul and joy. It impacts all that we do. The psalmist said it well, “Before I confessed my sins, my bones felt limp, and I groaned all day long.”
Why do we punish ourselves and work so hard to hide our wrongs and sins? Sometimes our pride gets in the way of our admission. We refuse to confess to God or those we have offended because it expresses our deepest human fault. Our pride and ego can hold us back. It could also be that we feel bad because we have missed the mark spiritually and morally.
But the good news is that we can take inventory and confess our sins to God. Like David in the psalm, we can ask for forgiveness and be released of the burden. When we confess, we experience the renewal of our sprit and mind; the joy of God’s goodness and grace. It’s a gift that we should never pass up.
