Sprouting in Faith

Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.—Psalm 27:14 (NIV)

Just as God’s presence is seen through nature, He is planting a new season in your life. Even if you feel as though you aren’t growing, be assured that He is watering the seeds that will bud into fruition. There is always a new season ahead, a season of new beginnings.

Faithful God, thank You for nurturing my Spirit so that I may bloom into the person You intend me to be.

Forgive, Forgive, Forgive

Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.”—Matthew 18:21–22 (NIV)

Jesus invites us to be like Him, to love the people in our lives in spite of their wrongdoings and their shortcomings. He asks us to follow His teaching in the above verse to forgive and forgive again, remembering that His forgiveness is limitless.

Lord, it’s not always easy to forgive. Heal my wounded heart and teach me to love unconditionally

Dr. Norman Vincent Peale famously said, “Empty pockets never held anyone back. Only empty heads and empty hearts can do that.” Some of us spend so much energy and worry over our bank accounts when the richest experience in life—a strong relationship with God—cannot be bought. And if you don’t have faith, all the money in the world will not fill the void.

Lord, my relationship with You, and all the blessings that flow because of my faith, make me rich beyond worldly measure.

Do you ever have the feeling that you’re in over your head? Maybe an unexpected bill, or a phone call with bad news sends you into a tailspin. Like Peter in the above verse, when you are frightened or worried, it’s okay to cry out to the Lord and know that He will stretch out His hand and catch you.

Father, replace my fears with the belief in Your ability to see me through life’s challenges.

Jesus speaks against judging someone while overlooking your own faults. Instead of criticizing another, explore your motivation. Are you being helpful or hurtful? The Bible tells us only God is able to judge someone’s heart.

Heavenly Father, help me to steer away from judgement. Help me to love with my whole heart.
