God’s Love Exceeds Expectations

The women said to Naomi: “Praise be to the Lord, who this day has not left you without a guardian-redeemer. May he become famous throughout Israel! He will renew your life and sustain you in your old age. For your daughter-in-law, who loves you and who is better to you than seven sons, has given him birth.”—Ruth 4:14–15 (NIV)

Naomi must have been distressed and upset when her life took a series of devastating turns that she had not anticipated. And yet, the Book of Ruth ends with Naomi filled with joy. Perhaps you are going through a time when your life doesn’t live up to your expectations. Turn to God—and keep the faith.

Heavenly Father, help me feel Your peace and know that Your gift is coming.

Who hasn’t read the above verse and thought, “Why did only one person thank Him for healing such a disfiguring disease?” Yet, when we take a moment and recognize the many blessings that we have forgotten to praise God for, the mistake of the nine lepers becomes more understandable. Today, thank God for your faith and the new life His Word provides.

Heavenly Father, my heart overflows with thanksgiving for Your endless forgiveness and the countless blessings You have showered on my life.
